A client comparing proposals may only scan them: the first line, the numbers, the length. A proposal that opens with "I'm a passionate designer" and ends with one price loses that scan.
Freelance Proposal Builder is a single HTML file that runs offline in your browser. Fill in the editor on the left and a print-ready proposal builds itself on the right, in a fixed order of 9 sections: Decision Summary, Your goals, Approach, Scope (Included / Not included), Timeline, Options, Why me, Terms and Next steps & acceptance.
Page 1 is a one-page Decision Summary. The section 06 Options table compares three options with deposits and balances calculated automatically (deposit = price × deposit %, balance = price − deposit). Timeline dates are calculated from your start date, and the valid-until date from the date you send it. The Terms section includes a late-materials clause by default: "If materials from you arrive late, the timeline moves by the same number of days; the final payment stays due on the original date." The builder won't print until you've added at least one "Not included" item.
Start from one of 5 complete example proposals (fictional clients): a bakery brand refresh, a Shopify store build, 5-page website copy for a physio clinic, an email marketing setup for a toy shop, and an operations process review. Add your own name, brand colour and logo, then change the details.
When you're done: Print / Save as PDF (Letter or A4), Copy as plain text (all 9 sections, numbered, ready for an email), or Copy short pitch (150 words or fewer, for Upwork or a quick reply). Eight follow-up emails (Day 2, Day 5, Day 10, the day before expiry, plus replies to "It's more than we expected", "We need to think about it" and "We went with someone else") fill in the client's name, project, price and dates for you.

Do I need Canva, Word or a subscription?
No. proposal-builder.html opens in any modern browser and works offline. The guide is PDF (Letter and A4) and EPUB; the templates are plain Markdown and text.
Will my logo and page numbers print?
Yes in Chrome or Edge: your logo appears in the header of every page after page 1, and the footer shows the proposal number and "Page x of y". Other browsers print the proposal without that header and footer.
Where is my data stored?
Only in your browser (localStorage). The file makes no network requests. Use Export JSON for backups; clearing browser data deletes saved proposals.
Are the examples real clients?
No. All clients, people and businesses in the examples are fictional. In "Why me" the builder reminds you to use your own real results only.
